6月2日，作家莫言在个人社交账号发文讲述给相声演员冯巩取了个同款笔名的故事。
Nobel laureate Mo Yan recently shared a humorous anecdote in a social media post. He recounted suggesting to comedian Feng Gong that he should adopt the pseudonym Bi Zui ("shut up" in English), a recommendation that sparked laughter. Mo Yan then highlighted the shared artistic philosophy behind both Bi Zuiand his own pen name Mo Yan( meaning "don't speak" in English), both essentially meaning to not say a word.
莫言说自己前年冬天在饭局上初次见冯巩老师，“他握着我的手说，我的小说写得好是因为笔名起得好，他说他最近也想写点东西，希望我能给他起个笔名。我说：‘闭嘴。’”
冯巩先是说“好！”一阵大笑后说道：“那我的相声还怎么说啊！”
At their first meeting during a winter dinner two years ago, Feng Gong praised Mo Yan's success and asked Mo to give him a pseudonym. Mo Yan suggested "Bi Zui". Feng first exclaimed "Alright!" before bursting into laughter and quipping, "But how could I perform my crosstalk then?"
同行提醒莫言“冯老师会不会不高兴”，莫言表示冯巩老师是幽默大师，应该明白他的意思，但莫言心里还是不踏实。
莫言透露：“多年前我因为逞口舌之快，得罪了不少人，也留下了很多把柄，没事时还好，一旦有事，就会被拎出来折腾。为此我深感后悔，但习气难改，演讲时，聚会时，为了追求效果，逗大家发笑，便出语鲁莽，不计后果。”
After colleagues warned that his joke might offend Feng, Mo felt uneasy despite believing the master of humor would understand. He reflected on his past tendency of speaking bluntly — a hard habit to break that had caused him some trouble. His worries vanished when Feng Gong later shared their conversation video online.
不过冯巩几天后在社交媒体上把他俩对话的视频发出来了，这让莫言心里的石头落了地。
莫言还表示，在这视频留言区有人批评他与冯巩握手时只用了一只手，而把另一只手插在衣袋里，这是对冯巩先生不尊重。
对此，莫言回应：“尽管我把一只手插在衣袋里是因为我见到冯巩先生有点紧张，无所措手足，把手插进衣袋完全是下意识，但我还是真诚地接受批评，下一次与冯巩先生握手时一定要用两只手。”
莫言还在文章的最后表示：“我让冯巩先生‘闭嘴’，其实与我让自己‘莫言’一样，是希望我们深入生活，厚积薄发，想好了再说，想透了再写。正是：‘欲说相声先闭嘴，想写小说且莫言。’”
Mo concluded that Bi Zuifor Feng mirrors his own pen name of Mo Yan, urging creators like himself to deepen their life experiences and accumulate insights before expression. He encapsulated this philosophy in a couplet: "To master crosstalk, first shut your mouth; To write great fiction, refrain from rash words."
公开资料显示，莫言出生于1955年，原名管谟业，山东高密人，现任中国作协副主席、中国艺术研究院文学院院长、全国政协委员等，代表作有《红高粱》《蛙》《丰乳肥臀》等。他曾于2004年获法国法兰西“文学与艺术骑士勋章”，2012年获诺贝尔文学奖。
冯巩，1957年12月6日出生于天津市，毕业于华中师范大学，中国内地著名男演员、导演、编剧，一级演员、中国文联副主席、中国曲艺家协会主席、国家级非遗代表性传承人。
